Best Practices in Social Media Creation - We Need a Montage!

Ogilvy PR is sponsoring the Successful Social Media Creation track at next month’s BlogHer Business Conference, which is geared towards businesses and marcom professionals seeking to develop a deeper understanding of social media and its applications.

Virginia Miracle (our fearless SVP of Strategy), Matthew Balthrop (our fearless videographer) and I will all be attending BlogHer Business - documenting the event, as well as the Successful Social Media Creation session.

So, instead of wandering around the conference and trapping people into answering typical “conference” questions (”Are you enjoying the conference?!”, “What are you learning?!”) - we thought we’d throw it out to you. Let’s develop 5 (or so) questions about social media creation best practices - we’ll track down as many people as we can at the conference and get you your answers. (Which we will then, of course, compile into a beautiful montage and share with the world.)

Best practices in social media creation are a hot topic right now. Transparency. Authenticity. Credibility. Talkability. Influence. Shareability. Measurement. What’s most important? What questions do we want to pull some bright minds together to answer?

Post a comment on this blog post, or track back here and throw it out to your own readers. I’ll compile and run down what we’ve all come up with before we head to BlogHer Business, and as promised we’ll return with some good stuff to share.

I would like to say that documenting the experience is a great idea. If you’re planning to tape the questions asked and answers given there should be a link added to this blog in the future for other bloggers to watch and comment on.

  2. John Bell Says:

The great thing about the event is that it will bring together marketers and those who are primarily bloggers with an audience. We need to ask both POVs what they think best practices are because reciprocal value is the key to using social media productively. I would like to ask - what are some of the best values that marketers can bring to the table to genuinely involve bloggers with their brand?

  3. Laura Says:

I think it would be fun to hear what companies or organizations the bloggers want to hear from - who are some of their favorite brands and marketers?

Also, it would be also be good to get both sides perspectives on how participation in other forms of social media (social networks, twitter, etc) is (is not?) changing the interaction and community on blogs and what that means for marketers.

  4. Will Fleiss Says:

What is the best interaction you have had with a marketer attempting to promote a brand or product? What is the worst?
