I only follow those who add value to my time on Twitter. I think as we go forward Twitter will include a value scoring system that they can monetize. Highly valued Twitterers might get compensated, possibly with a share of contextual messaging based on keywords associated with their expertise. I'm in social media monitoring and those who follow me follow because of that. So I don't stray too far off the farm. Of course for us, its a b-b marketing tool: We routinely answer questions about social media monitoring via Twitter.
And, BTW, don't think the Delete option gets you off the hook if you Tweet something you regret- we collect all the Tweets and they can be searched in our historic social media results database.

Good advice Kristin on Twittering at corporate level.

I think the only other one I would add would be to think before you Twitter!

The rapidity of Twitter is unlike any other social media platform and while you can get away with a few blunders as an individual, its not always so easy as a brand.

That said, the odd blunder can add personality and engagement with your followers that is hard to achieve otherwise, a humanisation.
