Yesterday afternoon John Bell and I delivered “Twitter Bootcamp for PRâ€, a one-hour training Webinar for public relations professionals hosted by the Bulldog Reporter’s PR University. During the workshop, we shared key strategies and best practices on how organizations can participate in social media through microblogging platforms such as Twitter.
A recording of the Webinar will be made available to people who registered and attended the event. However, we wanted to share a copy of our presentation deck with our readers, which includes more than 60 sides featuring the basics of Twitter, key strategies, PR best practices, and real life case studies.
You can download the full Twitter PR Strategies PPT deck, or view it on Slideshare:
Here a few things you will learn:
In addition, the 360 Digital Influence team has created a series of blog posts about Twitter and PR strategies here on the 360 Digital Influence blog. Here’s a list of the existing posts:

Great presentation. Thanks very much for sharing it. I just conducted some 1.5 day social media bootcamps for PR firms last week. A heavy dose of Twitter instruction, of course.
The big thing people need to realize is that it’s a community, not a broadcast platform. I’ve been advocating the 8×1 rule. For every Tweet about you, send 8 about others. A bit counter-intuitive for marketers, but that’s what the Twitter community wants.
Looking forward to following your work here (and of course on Twitter)
Best regards,
Jason Baer

Many thanks, Kristin, to you and John for an excellent presentation. I will say, though, that given the comments on Twitter’s utility for rapid response to customer feedback, I was a little surprised you weren’t taking audience questions via Twitter!

Great break down of how to use Twitter effectively. More companies will begin to use Twitter in the future and most be well served to read this before they start using Twitter.

As long as people don’t spam too much with twitter, they can achieve some really good success. Plus there are a lot of new automation software for twitter, that will auto-tweet on a regular basis - somewhat like an autoresponder

Since twitter is a fairly new marketing and communication strategy. I am not entirely sure it is not just a passing fad. Where it may be effective for some product or service marketing. The effort in maintaining such a strategy seems very time consuming as opposed to other marketing strategies that are not.

I think that Twitter as any other form of social media demand dedication toward building a relationship with the public. There are tools that help you achieve this, but still, it is a slow process and one that has to be carried out carefully. Not every follower is actually following you, and the effectiveness of any Twitter campaign relies precisely on that. I think the secret is in building trust and delivering value so people just can’t ignore you. Unless you are a celebrity, there has to be something very interesting about you, and that is usually knowledge or real solutions to peoples problems.

The more you doing it the better, by becoming good follower who always tweet back, hopefully the same will happen to you. Twitter is gaining more and more popularity in virtual networking. Therefore, the net community regardless of whatever their intention is in using Twitter, in one way or another, must able to offer something very special the their follower in order to keep them actively help in promoting your products or even your name.
