Brian Smith is an account executive with the consumer marketing team at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR), Atlanta. Brian specializes in digital and social media with an interest in the sports, entertainment and tourism sector.

Prior to joining Ogilvy PR Brian worked with Edelman in the consumer brands practice with a focus on sports, entertainment and tourism. Brian has worked with Starbucks, The Ferst Center for the Arts, The Omni Hotel, Medieval Times, Beaches of South Walton, Wal-Mart and NexCen Franchise Management’s retail and QSR brand portfolio, among others. In addition to his creativity and professionalism, Brian is recognized as “having an eye for trend spotting” and an “ability to look beyond the obvious to find opportunity.”

Before shifting to a career in public relations Brian completed a three year term in the music industry. His entrepreneurial endeavors in artist management and development put him at the table with industry giants, BMG Publishing and Atlantic Records where he helped negotiate a major publishing deal with BMG for up and coming band FLOREZ. As artist manager for FLOREZ Brian coordinated nearly 250 events during his three year tenure. He is also credited with securing and fostering a partnership with the Auburn Moon Agency which contributed to nearly seventy-five percent of the band’s total revenue in 2007.

Brian’s passion for learning has driven him to continue his education at the graduate level. He began a master’s degree in marketing management at Australia’s Griffith University in Brisbane, QLD in 2004. Courses of interest include Sports and Entertainment Marketing, and Franchise Structure & Management. Upon returning to the US, Brian’s studies transferred to Golden Gate University where he earned his master’s in marketing. Courses of interest include Contemporary Public Relations, Strategic Brand Management and Strategic Marketing and Planning. 

Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Furman University in Greenville, SC and a master’s degree in marketing from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA.
